The German Club at Central Connecticut State University in New Britain, CT is a fun student run organization which focuses on German culture, language, history and European relations. All undergraduates are welcome to join as full time members, alumni/part time students/graduate students can join as associate members and anyone can join as a honorary member. Most events are open to general public! Fall 2011 / Spring 2012 Executive Board President - Ashley Foy Ashley graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BA in German Language and Literature and a double minor in European Union/West European Studies and Psychology from CCSU in May 2011. She received the Modern Language Departmental Honor and Modern Language Award for Excellency in German in 2009 and 2010. She helped to reactivate the German Club beginning in Spring 2009 and became president in Spring 2010 when it became recognized as a club once again at CCSU. She is a former national ice dance champion of Germany and lived in Germany 2005-2008. She studied German over the Summer in 2009 and 2010 in Düsseldorf and Berlin. She will return as an undergraduate student in Fall 2011 to complete a second BA in History, and will serve a second term as Commuter Senator for the Student Government Association. Vice President - Allyson Hall Ally joined the German Club as a Freshman in Fall 2010 and became an active member. As of Spring 2011 she has completed Ger 126 and ML (Ger) 300 which was a study abroad course to Weimar and Berlin, Germany and was elected to VP in April 2011. She was accepted to the Baden-Württemberg Exchange program and awarded a $1000 scholarship from the Student Government Association to study abroad. She will be studying at the University of Mannheim in Fall 2011 and Spring 2012. Ally has traveled to many European countries and formerly lived in Croatia. She is an International Studies Major and her sister Kristyne is the former president of CCSU's Italian Club CIAO. Treasurer - Jon Palin Jon joined the German Club before it became an officially recognized club in Fall 2009. He was elected to the Eboard in Spring 2010 as secretary, much a result of his extraordinary organizational skills and ability to take meeting minutes! He spent Fall 2010 and Spring 2011 studying abroad at the Universität Mannheim in Germany through the Baden-Württemberg Exchange program and served as Secretary for the German Club. Jon was elected as Treasurer in April 2011. He is a Business Finance Major and German minor. Secretary - Mike Zimmerman Graphic Design Specialist - Nathan Luce (pictured together: photo taken in Weimar, Germany) Mike Zimmerman is a Psychology major and German minor. His active efforts to reactivate the German Club started in Fall 2008 and was elected Vice President when it became officially recognized in Spring 2010. He served a full year term as VP Fall 2010-Spring 2011. Mike was elected as secretary in April 2011 and will be graduating in Spring 2012. Nathan Luce was an active member of the German Club since the reactivation process first started in Fall 2008. He is a Graphic Design Major and German Minor. He was elected an Eboard position of Graphic Design Specialist in April 2011, a new position. He will oversee the media aspect of the club events, specifically in the design of event and club flyers. Both Mike and Nate traveled abroad to Weimar and Berlin, Germany with the ML 300 class in Spring 2011 at CCSU.
